Print this and go through it before any signature
Print this and run through it before signing any contract:
- ☐ I'm signing Cash or Loan — not PPA / Lease.
- ☐ I have at least 3 quotes (mix of small/local and large companies).
- ☐ $/Watt lands in the $2.5–4.5 range (with battery). Anything over $5 is probably overpriced.
- ☐ System is sized at 1.5–2× winter usage (NEM 3.0 / NBT regions).
- ☐ Battery capacity ≥ one full evening of base load + 4 hours of peak load.
- ☐ Contract includes ≥ 5 years of workmanship warranty.
- ☐ Contract explicitly lists manufacturer warranty terms and any customer-side registration requirements.
- ☐ Contract has no mandatory arbitration / class-action waiver (or those clauses are struck out).
- ☐ Design drawings (SLD) are part of the deliverables.
- ☐ A 3–5 day cooling-off (Right to Cancel) period is written into the contract.
- ☐ The installer holds the appropriate state license — C-46 / C-10 in California, or equivalent in your state.
- ☐ I have copies of every document from the NEM submission and grant — Interconnection Approval and PTO Letter.
